Previously, I had written about being the happiest girl in Kanawha City through the purchase of some damn right cheap Anthropologie pillow shams (yes, pillow shams make me happy. Shut up.). This is a similar tale.
It was love at first sight, during a stop in a Georgetown mall during a summer trip to DC last June. It was typical DC day in June, hot and humid enough to wish for a Washington winter. I had ducked into some mall in Georgeotwn hoping to cool off. It was during this quick chilling period that I first laid eyes on him. At first, it was just a quick glance, followed by a longer gaze with a smile. Then, I had to go over and introduce myself.
His name was Quintana Roo. He was dressed in vivid shades of turquoise and green, two of my favorite colors. The meeting was mere minutes, and unfortunately, we had no contact since then.
We had not spoken since that fateful day, until a quick trip into Gaberial Brothers today. I had randomly picked out a new pair of mary-jane style athletic shoes because I figured they would help keep me cooler while standing outside in 90+temperatures (not to mention straight-and-full-blwon-sunlight!) and getting heat exhasustion. To waste some time, I wandered into the Home section and I stopped suddenly. It took me a few seconds to realize that it was Quintana Roo standing there in front of me. It was also at that moment I let out a squeal that was so loud half the store stopped to stare at me. I snapped him up, and headed to a register.
Quintana Roo, as you may be guessing by now, is an Anthropologie quilt that I feel insanely love with last summer. I actually almost bought it last year, the only reason it didn’t come home with me was because I couldn’t figure out a way to take it on the train (and okay, my mom used to get mad whenever I bought new bed stuff because I used to have a BUNCH–but I’ve since given most of it away). Every so often I’ve looked on eBay or other resale sites to see if I could get it cheap, but nope, Anthropologie stuff isn’t cheap, even if it’s used or clearanced. So when I walk in and see a quilt I’ve been wanting for a year for only $20? I didn’t even think oabout it, I just grabbed it and ran for the register before anyone else realized what a deal Quintana Roo was.
The funny bit in this story is that Anthropologie is still selling the quilt…for $228 on its website. And yes, I have seriously considered purchasing the matching accessories at full price.

Lovely, just lovely. AND MINE.
I ran around Lowe’s carrying this quilt and got a lot of compliments on it (people asked me if I was trying to match something to it, while my coworkers knew I was trying to find my roommate’s car keys so I could put it somewhere).
Now if you’ll excuse me, me and Quintana Roo are going to go cuddle.
